Why do people say Barbizon is a scam? Its been in business longer than any other modeling school?

23 May

I am be wrong, but it has been in business for a LONG time.
What is wrong with it? All i hear is that it is a scam, but how? Is there a site that shows this? I need to show my father proof that this is not the right business for me. BBB.org has ratings for Barbizon, and it showed a D- for GA, but an A in other cities. It showed 0 complaints. Please help

Has anyone ever been scammed or ripped off by Stone Model and Talent Agency or Barbazon Modeling School in ?

23 May

It is located in Cleveland, Ohio and the main women are the director named Susan Scott, her assistant Victoria, and the financial advisor who hounds you, Diane. They tell you you’re really talented and then take your money if you’re not happy with their services. I’m filing against them and was wondering if anybody has stories I can share to support my case?

How many times have you been arrested by the Fashion Police?

12 May

Never! I am the apart of the Fashion Police. I’m the deputy! I arrest criminals who commit heinous crimes of fashion! I’m considering to work as an agent for the FBI or the Fashion Bureau of Investigation or the CIA the Haute Couture Investigation Agency.
I arrest preps regularly because I find their Abercrombie-American Eagle-Hollister crap boring and generic and it’s not fashion…it’s just blah….
Solange Knowles is on our most wanted list!

Has anyone been to Barbizon modeling/acting school with a 4 year old? Are they a rip off, or real?

11 Apr

So we got a call for a FREE audition for my daughter who is 4 years old. We went to the Audition and they loved her! They said that she got into the school, and that it cost $2,190 for a 7 months training school. Then they said that after she Graduates from the school they will start getting her Auditions and print add work.

My question is… Has anything been to Barbizon? Has anyone had a bad experience? What about the school, and the price?
Also… If anyone has used this school, do they really get you jobs, print adds, commercials, auditions? I mean, especially for a 4 year old?

We are extremely new to this industry and our daughter LOVES IT, she really wants to be on “TV” and be in adds, and all that. We aren’t totally sure, but we want to give it a try since she really wants to, and she really has that personality as well.

We are just weary of spending that much money, and don’t want to get into anything bad.

Thanks for any input.

R.P.: Question for New Yorkers who have been in New York City since the 80’s or were there at that time?

07 Apr

Ok. New York City Television is known for the high amount of local TV commercials. I remember a series of local commercials that were(are) made for a fashion/clothing/boutique store in NYC.

These commercials were well made. They had good visual quality, style, models, music and graphic art…not like so many of the other cheesy looking local commercials with poor lighting, bad acting and an extremely loud soundtrack.

TO THE POINT–> Does anyone know/remember the name of that NYC store?

I’m getting a hint that it might be Bloomingdale’s, but I doubt it. The reason I need to know is so that I may do a google search for one of their commercials. The commercial I’m looking for shows a woman(model) in a park (I’m guessing is Central Park) skipping up some steps while the back ground music is “There Goes My Baby” but is not by “The Drifters”, it sounds like it was recorded by a session jazz band.

Question for native New Yorkers who have been in New York City since the 80’s or were there during the 80’s?

@ LJ- Hm? The only further details I can give about these commercials is that they were made in the style of perfume commercials in which they depict perfect and flawless people in them.

Similar to this one…

For what I can remember, these commercials were only shown during the 9:am to 11:am morning slot and played more during the late evening slot from 8:pm to 11:pm.

Like I said, it has to be for a Boutique store that is exclusively in just NYC. Names that ring a bell are like “Park Avenue” or “Bloomingdale’s”.

I appreciate your response. Merry Christmas :)
—SORRY, I FORGOT TO ADD AN EXAMPLE VIDEO. HERE IT IS…

——————-
@ bill k– The video I posted is not what I’m looking for. I posted that video to show an example of the style of the commercial I’m looking for. I do appreciate your attempt. Merry Christmas :)
